How To Naturally Increase Libido: 5 Tips For A Better Sex Life
Low libido is a common problem that many women experience at some point in their lives. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including stress, hormonal imbalances, and certain medications. But the good news is, there are ways to naturally increase your libido and get your sex drive back on track.
In this post I’ll be sharing five actions you can start taking today, that will help naturally increase your libido.
Having More Orgasms Can Help Naturally Increase Libido
One of the easiest ways to increase your libido is to have more orgasms. Not only do orgasms feel great, but they also increase blood flow and cause a release of your feel-good hormones: oxytocin and dopamine.
Having more enjoyable sex and therefor more orgasms, will help you be more interested in having sex in the future. It’s a win-win! So, take the time to learn your body, what turns you on, what feels the best, which positions hit that just-right spot, and don’t be afraid to communicate those things to your partner.
It’s also important to know that women experience different types of orgasms throughout the month because of the hormonal changes you go through. Depending on where you are in your menstrual cycle, you may more easily experience a clitoral orgasm, a cervical orgasm, or a G-spot orgasm. The orgasms intensity and your ability to have more than one, will fluctuate throughout the month as well.
Understanding your body’s preferences and its natural rhythms can help you have realistic expectations in the bedroom, which helps boost confidence, make the sex more enjoyable & therefor positively impacts your libido.
What If My Libido Is So Low I Don't Even Want To Have Sex?
If you’re not interested in having sex, or having to have sex feels like a chore, then “have more orgasms” isn’t helpful advice for you. Forcing yourself to push through or fake it, is the worst advice someone could give you. Unfortunately, I see and hear that advice being given a lot.
Instead, I would encourage you to focus on other ways you can naturally increase your libido:
- Eat libido-boosting foods: Certain foods have been shown to increase libido, including dark chocolate, pumpkin seeds, garlic, oysters, pineapple, celery, ginger, spinach, strawberries, and avocado. These foods contain nutrients and compounds that can help increase blood flow and promote the production of sex hormones.
- Manage stress: Stress can be a major libido killer, so it’s important to find ways to increase your stress capacity and resiliency. Whether it’s practicing yoga, meditation, or simply taking a few deep breaths throughout the day, find what works for you and make it a regular part of your routine.
- Get enough sleep: Lack of sleep can wreak havoc on your hormones and your libido. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to help your body regulate its natural rhythms and boost your sex drive.
- Stop taking the birth control pill: Did you know that the birth control pill can dramatically lower libido? If you’re experiencing a lack of interest in sex and you’re taking hormonal birth control, it might be time to consider other options.
Low Libido Is Common, But Not Normal
Like many other signs of hormone imbalance, having a low libido is common, but not normal.
That doesn’t mean that having a low libido is something to feel shameful about, though. Take it as a message from your body letting you know that your hormones need some attention.
