10 Foods You Can Use to Regulate Hormones Naturally
When it comes to balancing your hormones, food is one of the most powerful tools you have. While testing and supplements can play a role, the foundation always starts with what’s on your plate.
If you’ve ever struggled with PMS, painful cramps, heavy periods, low energy, or mood swings—you know firsthand how much hormone imbalance can affect your daily life.
The good news? Choosing the right foods can help regulate your hormones, restore balance, and make you feel more like yourself again.
Below, in no certain order, are some foods to regulate hormones naturally that I keep on repeat in my own kitchen—and often recommend to clients.
1. Kiwis
Kiwis are rich in potassium, a mineral essential for hormone health.
Potassium supports the sodium-potassium pump (we have one on every cell in the body), which helps insulin and thyroid hormone actually enter the cells where they need to be to do their job.
Without enough potassium, hormones can’t function properly—even if your body is producing them.
2. Chicken
Chicken is a lean, versatile source of protein, which is crucial for hormone production and blood sugar balance. Of all the macronutrients – protein, fat, fiber, and carbohydrates – protein is the one that takes the body the longest to break down, which means we stay feeling fuller, longer.
I love chicken because there are so many ways you can prepare and season it: grilled, baked, slow-cooked, cajun, fajita, lemon-pepper, italian, this keeps meals interesting while still giving your body the building blocks it needs for balanced hormones.
3. Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are a nutrient powerhouse. They’re high in fiber (supporting healthy estrogen clearance), rich in minerals, and gentle on blood sugar. Stable blood sugar is one of the most important foundations for regulating hormones.
4. Berries
Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries are loaded with fiber and antioxidants.
Fiber helps your body detox excess estrogen, while antioxidants reduce inflammation—both key for hormone regulation. Just remember to pair them with protein or fat to avoid blood sugar spikes.
5. Collagen Powder
Collagen isn’t just great for skin and joints—it’s an easy way to add more protein into your day.
Protein is necessary for hormone synthesis and keeping blood sugar balanced.
I love using a clean collagen powder in smoothies or mixing it with whole milk for a quick hormone-friendly breakfast. My favorite is FurtherFood’s Chocolate Collagen, I mix it with a cup of milk and drink it alongside my breakfast almost every day!
6. P3 Snack Packs
These grab-and-go packs (usually a combo of protein, fat, and sometimes nuts or seeds) are an easy way to keep your blood sugar steady and satisfy your hunger when you’re between meals.
Having simple options like this on hand prevents the “afternoon crash” that can trigger mood swings and cravings.
7. Eggs
Eggs are one of the most nutrient-dense foods for hormones. They provide protein, healthy fats, and cholesterol—which your body needs to make hormones. Without enough cholesterol, your body can’t produce estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone.
Plus, eggs are versatile and easy to prep ahead. I personally really like these Roasted Red Pepper Egg Bites, they are very similar to the Starbucks egg white bites, which I love!
8. Squash & Zucchini
These veggies are rich in fiber and minerals that support digestion and hormone detox pathways. Roasted, grilled, or sautéed, squash and zucchini make simple sides that help round out a hormone-balancing meal.
9. Shrimp
Shrimp is another quick, versatile protein that also provides selenium, a mineral critical for thyroid function. Since your thyroid plays a major role in regulating metabolism and hormones, getting enough selenium is key.
10. Beef
Beef offers high-quality protein, iron, and zinc—all of which are necessary for hormone production and balance.
Ground beef, steaks, or roasts are easy to prepare and can be used in countless recipes, making it a hormone-friendly and family-friendly staple.
Reminder to Keep Eating for Hormone Balance Simple
Supporting your hormones doesn’t have to mean cutting out all your favorite foods or following a complicated diet plan. Sometimes the most powerful shifts come from eating more of the foods that regulate hormones naturally—foods rich in minerals, protein, and fiber.
When you consistently include these 10 foods, you’re giving your body what it needs to balance hormones, ease PMS, reduce cramps, and keep your energy steady.
Remember: balanced hormones = happier periods, steadier moods, and more energy to live your life.
